Grappenhall is a township in Grappenhall Parish, Cheshire. In 1933 the civil parish boundary (with Lancashire) was altered to follow the centre of the Manchester Ship Canal. It includes the hamlet of Highfields. The population was 338 in 1801, 708 in 1851, 987 in 1901 and 5655 in 1951. The church is dedicated to St. Wilfrid.
