Featherstone is a parish-town, in the wapentake of Osgoldcross, liberty of Pontefract; 2 miles W. of Pontefract, 4 from Ferrybridge, 7 from Wakefield, 25 from York. Population in the 1820s was 337. The names have changed: what used to be Featherstone is now North Featherstone, and what used to be South Featherstone is now Featherstone.
