Just to the West of Ormskirk is the village of Halsall, with its ancient Parish Church of St. Cuthberts. Halsall extends from the hamlets of Primrose Hill and Bangors Green. Much of the western part of the parish is richly fertile farming land that has been won from the extensive Halsall Moss. The village, with its imposing church is one of the oldest and most beautiful in the Liverpool diocese. St Cuthberts at Halsall dates from 1250 although reconstructions have taken place through the centuries.
