Brampton is a village and parish, about 3½ miles W. from Chesterfield. At Brampton-moor are extensive stone potteries; at New Brampton, are iron works, and in the neighbourhood is a coal mine.

Brampton church, dedicated to St. Peter, is an antique building, first erected in the 12th century.
